20 Pickup Trucks Men Think Look Cool But Turn Women Off

20 Pickup Trucks Men Think Look Cool But Turn Women Off

When Rugged Styling Goes Too Far

Some trucks push the macho image so hard that they can become a bit much, especially for the average woman. Obviously, not every lady has the same taste, but enormous grilles and military-inspired bodywork are enough to drive away the average woman. These 20 pickups prove that what looks cool to one person can make someone turn away.

1. Tesla Cybertruck

Few pickups divide opinion like the Cybertruck, and it hasn’t picked up any new fans lately. It replaced traditional curves with flat stainless-steel panels and sharp geometric lines that not everyone gravitates toward. Some men love the futuristic design, but pull up to a first date in one? There's a decent chance that’s the last one.

2. GMC Hummer EV Pickup

The GMC Hummer EV is huge, it’s heavy, and it has all the subtlety you'd expect from something with a Hummer badge. Its wide body, huge tires, and front end can make it look tough, but it also eats up a remarkable amount of space. Not every woman appreciates that.

3. Ford F-150 Raptor R

Ford designed the F-150 Raptor R to look aggressive enough on its own, and that was before you even heard its supercharged V8. Top it off with chunky tires, skid plates, and a huge FORD grille dominating the nose, and you have something not every woman wants to be seen in.

4. Ram 1500 TRX

The Ram 1500 TRX looks like somebody took an everyday pickup and made every dimension more intimidating. We’re talking bulging fenders, a raised hood, massive tires, and a wide stance, all of which give it unmistakable presence. Women simply see a vehicle that appears permanently angry.

5. Chevrolet Silverado HD

Chevrolet's heavy-duty Silverado has worn some especially bold front-end designs, with grilles that take up much of the truck's face. That industrial look makes the Silverado HD appropriate enough for towing, but it's hardly welcoming. For someone who doesn't need to haul a fifth-wheel trailer, the styling makes a simple evening feel like you've arrived in construction equipment.

6. Ford F-450 Super Duty

Hey, we get it. The F-450 is supposed to be massive! It's built for jobs that would overwhelm a normal pickup, but what makes perfect sense on the job doesn’t always blow over well with the ladies. A guy may love pulling up in the biggest thing in the lot, but his passenger won’t.

7. Jeep Gladiator Mojave

The Jeep Gladiator Mojave combines the familiar Wrangler face with an exposed pickup bed, which is more than enough to entice some men. Throw on large tires, tall ground clearance, and desert-focused hardware, and you have something the fellas love. Women, though? They’re looking at a truck that's either adventurous or exhausting.

8. Toyota Tundra TRD Pro

Toyota gave the latest Tundra TRD Pro an especially aggressive face, complete with an oversized grille and chunky trim. Sure, there's plenty to admire if you're into the rugged stuff, but its styling leaves no room for understatement. So, someone who prefers quieter designs often finds this one less handsome and more like it's trying to prove something.

9. Chevrolet Silverado ZR2 Bison

The Silverado ZR2 Bison isn't interested in looking elegant, and that’s okay for some people. Its entire appearance revolves around tough-looking hardware, complete with steel bumpers and protective components that are actually pretty useful on rough terrain. However, they also make the truck unusually severe during normal street driving.

10. Ram 3500 Dually

Nothing says heavy-duty capability like a Ram 3500. The huge proportions can look impressively purposeful to diesel enthusiasts, but to the average woman, they make the truck feel much closer to commercial equipment than an everyday vehicle. She shouldn’t have to check whether the restaurant has loading-dock access!

11. GMC Sierra 2500HD AT4X

Big tires, black trim, a tall body, and a broad grille—this Sierra takes GMC's heavy-duty pickup and gives it an even tougher appearance. That said, it's the sort of truck some men immediately want to climb into, while women mainly notice that they feel out of their element trying to climb into it.

12. Nissan Titan XD

The Titan XD tried to occupy the space between ordinary half-ton pickups and full-blown heavy-duty options, and its styling focused on that ambition. It has everything from a tall hood and thick bodywork to chrome-heavy front ends for a muscular appearance. Unfortunately, uncommon doesn't automatically mean attractive.

13. Ford F-150 Tremor

The F-150 Tremor adds more aggression to this familiar full-size, and you have the orange accents and extra ground clearance to thank! None of those additions are crazy on their own, but together they make the truck too loud for the average gal. Outside an upscale hotel, the muddy-boots aesthetic doesn’t win everyone over.

14. Toyota Tacoma Trailhunter

Just look at that snorkel-style intake and protective hardware. Let’s be honest, the off-road equipment isn't just decorative. That's great news for someone who spends life on the off-beaten path, but it’s just plain excessive in suburbia.

15. Rivian R1T

The Rivian R1T takes a very different approach from the macho pickup. It burst onto the scene with smooth bodywork, a clean shape, and distinctive vertical headlights. Classy, right? Well, those unusual headlights are also one of the biggest reasons some can't warm to it. Once she tells you they look like cartoon eyes, it's difficult to stop seeing them that way.

16. Hyundai Santa Cruz

Hyundai's Santa Cruz blurs the line between crossover and pickup, so you think it would be a slam dunk with the ladies. The reality is that its unconventional appearance leads some to find it too soft. Ironically, the same styling that can make it less intimidating may also make your date wonder why you didn't just grab an SUV.

17. Honda Ridgeline

The Honda Ridgeline is comfortable and more than sensible, but that isn't always what people have in mind when they picture a cool pickup. Its design makes it more civilized than rivals, and while some women may appreciate that restraint, anyone hoping to project rugged danger won’t achieve it in this.

18. Chevrolet Avalanche

There’s a good reason the Avalanche is so recognizable: chunky proportions and an unusual midgate design. Its versatility also gave it a loyal following, but early models in particular have an unmistakably early-2000s appearance that hasn't aged gracefully. A man may see a cult classic, but his date will likely stare at it, wondering why so much plastic was necessary.

19. Hummer H2 SUT

Its towering stance. The tiny-looking windows and exaggerated fenders. Let’s not forget the massive grille. They were basically designed for buyers who wanted people to stare. Two decades later, though, that level of toughness comes across like something a nightclub promoter would've had in 2005.

20. Dodge Ram SRT-10

The Dodge Ram SRT-10 remains incredibly cool to a certain kind of enthusiast; Dodge stuffed a Viper's V10 engine into a full-size pickup, which was more than enough for some guys! It's also fast and loud in personality, making it undeniably memorable. It won’t, however, make for a romantic ride.
